I agree they are easy for anyone to pull apart and you all have challenged me, which I appreciate, I needed a kick in the pants, it's just that, I really want to be friends with you guys, because I know that there's more to each of you than this kind of attitude, but how can I express my true thoughts and concerns to a bunch of raving, angry, aggressive people? I can't. I've grown so weary of the little sarcastic kickers at the end of comments, I don't even read most responses. I read Rhythm, I read Search, Sae & sometimes Minimalist, Welsh & Ace, but usually I don't get past Sae.

Salty -

We have several theists here who staunchly defend their faith as best they see how, but some of them are friends with many members of this board because they also talk about other things. I don't make friends with theists because of their religion, but because of the person they are underneath (which I wish they'd realize they would be without the god-shit). I noticed most of your posts have to do with religious things, and I realize you're curious, but if you branch out and let us see the other facets of your personhood I guarantee it'll make things a lot easier in the friend department.

I did my video game post, which went off well, and I do plan to branch out, I just wanted to make sure I answered most of the questions presented to me when I create threads. I think it's important to finish what you start, so if I know no one is talking to me, then I go to another thread or start something else.

What's your gut reaction to this?
I'll be back to check, I'm going to watch my show. Smile

My gut reaction is what bollocks this man is talking!
Reason demands rejection of superstition.
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

If I read you correctly you seem to be asking that your beliefs be given some respect.

Well I'm sorry but I cant do that. I can respect you as a person but I have zero respect for your beliefs, (while maintaining your right to have them).

But dont feel picked, on I have an equal amount of disrespect for all religions organised or not.
Which has led to some lively debates in my house as my wife is a spiritualist (sigh).

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

I know.

"Can you understand that once you have written off fairy tales and magic there is no going back?"

I understand what you mean, but I don't agree, I think anyone can go back, if they want to. I wouldn't go back to Catholicism, but I would go back to God.

Thanks Down, I don't feel picked on when I get responses where people don't feel they need to defend themselves, because they understand that it's not my intention to attack.

Rhythm, should I just leave?

I can only speak for myself, but I've been quite gentle and I've held back many things I could of said. You really think any thing that has been posted in this thread is insulting? You really have seen nothing.

Thanks for holding back. What made you decide to do that?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
