Why do I sense that there is a sidestepping going on on the part of Salty, who never apologized for being nasty or insulting and who now is asking all about other things. Topic changing doesn't mean that the original offenses were meaningless or not meant.

Howl's Moving Castle is the best film ever. I absolutely love Sophie and Calcifur. I try to watch everything from Studio Ghibli. I enjoyed Ponyo, watched it in the theatre actually.

Ah, so you studied a while ago I see, but you're still miles over me! I have hiragana and katakana mostly memorized. I've been reading Naruto to help me get used to it, but I don't have the time to dedicate to my reading like I used to...sigh. I was just getting the hang of the usage of "tsu" in a sentence and the combination sounds to make "kyu" or "byu"...I wish I didn't have a job, then I could study all day!

What I am trying to say is that I have forgotten much of what I had originally learned and now YOU are way ahead of me.

No ..to study all day will no make you any better. To learn Japanese you must understand Japanese as if you were a native of those islands...for this 'study' is only part of the learning.

I think you really need to have a Japanese speaking friend who will talk to you (and mentor you) with the language...this may produce a better outcome for your learning. imho

I always view xtians with a little bit of sorrow, a bit of sadness that they waste their time believing in inanities, but hell, so long as they don't come asking me to believe in their fairy tales without endings, and so long as they don't try to make society go that route, they can enjoy the koolaid cantina all they like.

But.

They want their silly, baseless agenda to have some merit in politics, in science, in education, and in the private rights of the individual, and that is where I take issue with them.

My opinion is not baseless. I told you all the reasons I have to maintain it, you just don't agree with them.

I know what you mean. I would definitely need someone to have general conversations with me. My one Japanese friend is Deaf, when we were in school together she taught me signs in Japanese and English.

I don't know, you can build sentences I think you're still better off than me!

Since you watch Studio Ghibli, have you ever watched "Summer Wars"? I think you'd find that interesting.

Epimethean. I'm glad to hear that I haven't hurt your feelings. I understand what you mean when it comes to forcing things on people. Really, when I expressed my opinion in that thread I did not ask anyone to apply my views to their lives. If I gave that impression, I'm sorry, but it was my intention to express my views and defend them.

Getting back to topic: Have you met anyone on this forum yet? Have you considered going to the Dragon*Con that was mentioned in another thread?
