I used to watch some very convincing videos on shit like this when I was younger and was roped in myself. If you're not used to looking at things rationally then this sort of thing can be very deceptive.

It might be helpful to make something absolutely clear. These beings, that the ancient alien crowd are arguing for, are most definitely not gods. They invalidate every religious belief you may have ever held (or indeed still hold). I have a sneaking suspsicion that it only "makes more sense" to you as long as it supports whatever you are already inclined to believe. There is no evidence for this line of argument. None. There is nothing but evidence to the contrary. This is top to bottom, from the position of the authors of the narrative you wish to champion all the way up to ET itself making visitations to our planet. Clinging to this is exactly equivalent to clinging to ID (in fact, ID is very often attached to these claims, as you have done here by proxy).
It's not so much I'm prepared to believe outlandish claims, but rather to consider them. I can't say hand on heart that I do believe the claims of the Bible, but there is something about those claims that 'catch my attention' and 'speak to my heart as well as my mind'.
I'm very doubtful about all this alien stuff, whether they're from other planets or other dimensions. To be honest, it all sounds like a load of baloney. I am however, very interested in the testimony of people who are respected in their field. Something is going on it seems.

(1) A UFO by definition is 'an unidentified flying object',not sentient life from another plant. Nor is that conclusion implied,let alone inferred..
(2) Testimony in itself is neither compelling evidence nor proof. At best it's 'credible',but still needs supporting evidence. EG "I witnessed a murder" followed by a graphic account. The law still needs some hard evidence to proceed,such as a body,blood,or missing person.
A trial lawyer* will tell you that contrary to popular belief,eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.The reason is simple; most people are not very observant.
Do I believe the people saw what they claimed? Don't know, but I accept that they probably believe it ,and are not lying.
Context; My beloved brother is one of the most honourable men I've ever known. If HE said (and was not taking the piss); "I saw A UFO", I would believe him.If he then said "it was from another planet", I would believe he believed that, but would not believe the claim without some pretty extraordinary evidence. (say a wreck with dead aliens)
