There are different kinds of intelligence and an IQ test can tell you where you stand in some of them. But consider this, if someone with little o no education whatsoever takes an IQ test, they would find it more difficult to answer the test than someone who was taught the skills to figure it out.
So IQ tests, although they can tell you something about your level of intelligence, are not limited to someone's innate cognitive skills. To a certain degree, they are biased to a person's level of education.
