That's the third fucking way. It's called actually tweaking and improving the system.
And it is fairly well established through centuries of commerce that people are going to, one way or another barter goods and services for other goods and services. The medium of which they conduct their business limits the scale, but is arbitrary.
I mean, this "Communism v. Capitalism" penis duel is useless.
Not to mention, in societies of scale, capitalist and capitalist-like economic systems have better out competed similar societies. So, even if "capitalism" is not the correct solution, it is orders of magnitude more viable than many other ones.
Though, in my view, an economic system which restricts the creativity of it's people, through starvation, marginalization and greed, loses a lot. And any system that becomes too wasteful becomes easy prey for competing implementations and powers.

I don't think pure capitalism is the answer, but nobody has tried it, or indeed suggested that it would end poverty.

I largely agree with you. I just object to bozo's reasoning; just because one extreme does not work, doesn't mean the other extreme will. Insulting people doesn't further your argument, by the way.

Eliminating poverty is an impossibility. You would either need a pretty damn good world government or a heap load of government systems that magically eliminated poverty in use by every country in the world. Then, you have the problem of natural disasters, war, famine, drought, deluge, etc. These problems cannot be eliminated and, unless every single country had a magnificent strategy for boosting the economy when such disasters happened and magical hovercrafts to transport goods in and out of war zones and disaster zones, it ain't gonna happen. (I said ain't gonna. I feel like a rebel. How fucking nerdy is that?)
I love ideals like this, but I cannot even fathom them. There is always something that will leave at least some living without basic means to survive in a healthy manner. I will say this, though. If you're going to try, start with the slums of South America and basically everywhere in Africa. That's fucking poverty! I think the chances of me starving to death in the United States, with or without a job, are infinitesimally slim.
