The meaninglessness of the Christian god concept
RE: The meaninglessness of the Christian god concept
"I regret to have to remind you that Christianity is based on the God of the Hebrew tradition who is no different from the gods of the Greek or the Sumerian tradition."

"Based upon but very different to."

So you are admitting that there would have to have been another god that came before the xtian one.

There are many other observations of deity which touch upon the observations of the Jews. Same God; innacurately described. I also think the bible acknowledges other gods. Otherwise how do you explain "you shall bow to no other god but me"?

It seems clear that early judaism must have been polytheistic, Fr0ds. Interesting to meet an xtian willing to admit that side of the mythology.

"Polytheistic" is accepting many gods, as in Hinduism. I don't see the connection you draw with Judaism. Genesis refers to 'us' yet maintains the single godhead concept. Their influence may have been polytheistic, and if Judaism ever was such that isn't part of the doctrine of Judaism we understand AFAIK.

Here's some interesting reading from an occasionally interesting blog.

The term, "henotheistic," is sometimes applied to the early Jews, but that's just polytheism lite.

Norfolk - get a clue dude. Seriously... it's embarrassing.

For who? You or me? Thinking

I think you.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
