Mormon: "There is no such thing as rape."
RE: Mormon: "There is no such thing as rape."
It's a bit of a random tangent.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

I do view functioning, stable society as something desirable - but I'm also able to recognize that a contrary argument can be made.

What possible argument could be made againt a stable, functioning society if we're discussing human morality?

I'm talking about a human moral code, alpha, based on human wellbeing. Eradicating ourselves doesn't exactly jive with human wellbeing.

Yes. Actually I went there some time ago. Look at what we're doing to the planet. One could easily argue that the world would be better off without our functioning societies.

But wait -- I thought humans were god's children. How does he expect them to live without a viable planet, or without a fucntioning society?

Are you really saying that your god wants us to suffer in order that we might cling to him tighter?

And I'm noting - again - that a moral code can be based on things other than human well-being.

Er, "One could argue..." is not equivalent to "I personally argue..."

Is there a commandment I don't know about that says, "Thou shalt not answer any given question, instead answer another question or ask your own question"?

No wait, that's the politician's oath.

No. For example, just a couple posts above, FAF asked, Are you really going down to the most reduced relativistic level where you really claim to not know why a functioning society is a good thing?

And I answered directly: Yes. Actually I went there some time ago. Look at what we're doing to the planet. One could easily argue that the world would be better off without our functioning societies.

FAF asked a valid question from what I wrote. PT OTOH included a non sequitur in his question. As noted, saying that "one could argue" something does not indicate that the person holds that position himself, and in fact indicates just the opposite. I responded accordingly.
