Why are people impressed that a book written at a certain time contains some very easily obtained information from that time? And even weirder, that we should believe a load of ridiculous magical stories on the strength of the author knowing what his own town and king were called?
I guess it's the overly simplistic religious binary thinking. It's all true, or it's all false.
