Well you can keep believing whatever you want, but the truth of those words remain. It was God, and that sort of thing is frequent enough for me to know I am dealing with a personal God. If I was you I would not be so quick to hold onto your atheism. Lets just be serious for a moment and consider, It was a fairly cool way for God to save a man, as I am sure he is trying to do with you.
God does not have a devine plan that is unshakable. Every thing in this world is governed by mans choices, and time and chance happen to all.
Ecc 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
1Ch 22:8 But the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
That is what God told david, he was not allowed to build the temple becuase he had shed much blood in the earth, as a statment to the fact he does not delight in war.
As for the exodous from egypt, God had a plan to cleanse the land, it (the land) was involved in the sacrifice of children to false gods. The thing you need to be aware of is God is eternal, his eternal plan can not be ignored. God can bring the people of the land to Salvation of their souls even upon death, he can speak to them, as he did to me. I know of a man who was dead for 20 minutes, and God bought him back to life, he spoke of God communicationg with him as he was dying, in that moment he gave his life to God. God saw the land was entrenched in the worship of false gods; religions of terrible actions. It was easier in his estimation to wipe out the inhabitants and start again than it was to try individually to bring salvation by foot, and toungue.

Quote:he showed me parts of the bible that is riddled with blood and gore. He told me, "I've seen what religion is and how disgusting it is, I've opened my eyes to reality". I was asked "Why follow religion if it does so much harm?"
