I think that's kind of the problem. god(s) are utterly redundant to science because we have always found preferable naturalistic explanations, so we can safely posit that even with hard current problems the limitation is just either our imagination or ability to examine the issue with current tech. Religion is non overlapping in the sense that it is entirely useless to the scientific method, being more inaccessible than dark matter in utility.
