Of course it does. If you met a doctor and a dishwasher, you'd assume the doctor is more intelligent and more highly educated than the dishwasher.
I wouldn't necessarily assume the doctor was more intelligent than the dishwasher on simply meeting them.
I would assume the doctor was more highly educated in his or her area of expertise than the dishwasher. But for all I know, the dishwasher could be vastly more educated on any number of subjects than the MD. I've known many people who were better educated than their "betters" but lacked the credentials to cash in on it.
