The difference is that a single loaf of bread might allow one to make many sandwiches (depends on the way it's cut).
Well, the ones I see here are mostly made from a single loaf.
Of course, if you cut it in half, you have two sandwiches.
But my point was that you can eat less bread, and more nutrients with a hot meal, than just stuff everything in type of a sandwich.
I mean, I ate a lot of "sandwiches" which would not be considered as such in your country, maybe, and saw that I was gaining weight, and had to cut out on the bread.
So I began to cook proper meals with more healthy ingredients, and ate only a few slices of bran bread(?) or rye bread to supplement it, maybe not at all if I ate some rice with it.
