I live in such a country. I don't can't say that I've experienced that it takes specially long time, or for anyone that I know. Specially people who have lived in US have not complained about it taking more time then in the USA.
The great advantages of free health care that everyone can get treated. As it is today can someone who is poor in USA get killed by not having enough money or an insurance to get a surgery, if needed. Specoially when the unemployment is high.
I don't see any disadvantages with free healthcare, but I do see it with a private healthcare.
Also I see private health care to be a stupid as having privatized police. Such things as healthcare, police and such should be controlled by the state.
USA is the last country that I would want to beomce ill in or in need of a surgery.
