Atheists don't have Grand Masters or Popes, in any way. Please don't project your need for an authority figure on atheists.
Dawkins could announce tomorrow that he has converted to Islam or Christianity and I'd go "hmmm... What horrible reasons could have for that moronic decision?".
Atheists don't follow people, it is their ideas, words, concepts, arguments, etc that we care about.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
