Incorrect. An atheist isn't making a postive assertion.
In the same way a detective wouldn't be "wrong" to not believe that a person definitely commited a murder based on very little evidence. If later on he found evidence that strongly implicated the person, then he wouldn't be wrong to believe that person commited the murder. His original determination would still NOT be incorrect, as it was not a postive assertion. His methodology has been sound throughout.
Even if I ended up face to face with God after death, and God wasn't a complete idiot, we'd both agree he didn't provide enough evidence and I was rational in my disbelief. What's more, if a God exists he knows exactly how much and what type of evidence each person on Earth needs to believe in him. He would know he hadn't provided me with enough evidence.
