The main character was a member of another religion (Judaism). Actually all the main characters in the NT were, but big J was very specific throughout Matthew and Mark - here for the Jews and not anyone else. At least that was the message until the resurrection story in the last chapters was invented and the bit about spreading the news to the world was put in - in total contradiction to everything J had said prior to that chapter.
Its the most obvious bolt on bit of a story I have ever seen - it even clearly says it in Mark that the last verses are not found in the earliest copies.
Other than that - born of a virgin with a dream being the supporting evidence. Of the line of David but also the son of God paradoxically. Rejected by the people of his own village. Ignored by historians. Performed miracles no-one outside the faith thought worthy of reporting. Raised the dead when he resurrected - again without anyone noticing.
Died but came back 3 days later to shoulder the burden of all of our sins that were put on us by the actions of a couple of fruit grabbers in a Garden thousands of years before. His death is payment to himself (him being the father - or not - depending on the needs of the story) in order to fool himself into thinking dead people get into heaven sin-free.....
Its a fucking long list and I have something to do.
That will do for now.
