Not too late? That arrogantly implies we are not that much smarter than you, and therefore are stupid enough to think it might have been a good idea at least at one time in the past.

It is, however, a cornerstone of christianity, where "love" means "believe in me or burn," and "forgiveness" involves an extra-material plane full of eternally burning souls who committed the smallest of infractions.

And the deeper you go, the worse it gets. Fundie creationists don't just have to redefine moral terms, but also scientific ones... the whole religion is just about shitting on the very idea of language until eventually the dialogue is so skewed and confusing that god comes out the other end looking sparkling without ever having to earn that.
