Generally the things that change with Italian accents are more like the rhythm and the melody of your speech, and sometimes some vowels are pronounced slightly differently. Of course it's completely different with dialects. Within my dialect for example, "tempo" becomes "timb' ", "giorno" is discarded altoghether and replaced with "dì", "piccolo" becomes "p'ccnunn" and "questo" becomes "cuss". :S
