No way. So a murderer or rapist gets out of jail and gets a guaranteed income from the government?
All that does is free their time up to plan another crime. At least if they are at one of these programs they aren't sitting around all day plotting another rape or murder.
Most ex-cons are not rapists and murderers. Most of them are petty thieves, pot smokers and check kiters. And one of the main reasons they get back into crime is that they can't support themselves.
And the notion that having a job will keep someone from raping or murdering if that's what they're inclined to do is kind of silly. "I was going to rape someone tonight, but I'm just too tired from work. Looks like I'll have to wait for a day off.'
