I didn't think he was being goofy at all. I don't understand why saying Sagan made a profound influence on him would in any way equal "religion".
I don't know, I mean it didn't bother me much, I just felt like it was kind of cheesy--face it, Tyson is cheesy as hell. Like Bill Nye. I'm not saying he's not a great choice for this. I think he is. Kids will love his style (and the cartoons!) That and the fact that he's flying through space on a spaceship, though I appreciated it, I can see where some people, who already think the facts are fiction, won't be able to tell the difference. To them it will look like faith or belief in some Star-Trek style new age shit. This is purely my critique on the standpoint of marketing it to the people who aren't already aware of the value of science.
