I sure hope you didn't approach her with the same attitude implied with your language and all caps "YELLING!" in your OP.
After all, she is supporting you, feeding you, providing a roof over your head, possibly paying for college, etc. The least you could do is show her a bit of respect for that.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
