It depends on where you go. Look up the Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Towson, MD. A family member used to work there. The grounds are open. Residents are free to roam about the place and up until 15 years ago, they had a horrid designer for the paint on the walls. Literally, every wall was a different color, as was the trim. I don't think a color was repeated. There's even a residential school for children. Very interesting place to walk through.
