RE: Psalm 137:9
Atheists are claiming that everything prayed for or said by god or people in the bible is (considered by theists) the word of god.
Theists are claiming that people can say things in the bible without what they said becoming the word of god. A question to theists; if you say the above, that people can say things in the bible that aren't the word of god, how many other things would you lose? You take plenty of advice from dialogue in the bible. In fact, many of the moral messages and commands are made by people or the narrator, and not god directly. Are you saying that only things that god said in the bible should be considered as his commands? |

That you can take a verse out of context and then look at a Christian site at how they rationalize it for what purpose? That we contradict ourselves? Just because David prayed for destruction of babylon does not mean we should all agree with it just as we don't think it's right that David committed adultery. The only point I see is that man sins which is what we've been saying from the start. Please show me the contradiction in this psalm, I personally do not see one. Genesis and Psalm are both inspired writings, inspired by God himself. |

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! -4th verse of the american national anthem |

A news reporter can relay a story to someone else to write, this could be a story of great tragedy, but not necessarily the desire of the news reporter. The entire Bible is the inspired word of God giving us the truth of certain issues, this does not mean God agrees, it does mean God wants use to see the truths that are relative to us. |

Your problem is you specify the question and generalize the answer. Yes the bible is the word of g God and is truth. Yes the bible contains people who sin who follow God. And yes the bible everyone sins including the best profits on the bible (exception of Jesus). I fail to see a contradiction here. |

If the bible is only inspired by god, why must you take the creation story so literally? Perhaps it was only meant to allegorically convey a message and not scientific truth? Just some food for thought... |

All situations are truthful, some apply more to some than others. This particular psalm is showing us that God kept His word about punishing the nation of Israel and the suffering it would cause them. The psalmist is crying out in sorrow, just as God said the Israels would. |
