Psalm 137:9

Psalm 137:9
"How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones against the rock," (Psalm 137:9).

Below is the take from one of the apologetics.
http://carm.org/bible-difficulties/job-s...g-children

In a nutshell:
1) Just because the bible says so does not mean God approves it. (I thought the bible was the word of God Thinking )
2) You cannot judge God on his morality. Even if he commits atrocities, humans have no right to judge him on that.

It's like they can't go a sentence without contradicting themselves.

RE: Psalm 137:9
It demonstrates just how malevolent and incompetent god is. A god with many faults is not worthy to be called 'god'. Just an irresponsible and evil being abusing his power. Not worthy of worship. Just as a mass murdering dictator isn't worthy of worship.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Since you posted this what is your take on what is said, do you see God's approval in this psalm. Do you actually see God speaking in this psalm. Just because God inspires the words a man writes does not mean He approves of the actions of the characters in the story or in this case a song.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

David wrote this. If you know about David you would know ha had many moral struggles. That doesn't take away from morality of God.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

What's your point? That you can take a verse out of context and then look at a Christian site at how they rationalize it for what purpose? That we contradict ourselves? Just because David prayed for destruction of babylon does not mean we should all agree with it just as we don't think it's right that David committed adultery. The only point I see is that man sins which is what we've been saying from the start.

You say that the bible is the word of god and then ignore the parts that seem contradictory. Simply put, bible is not perfect! How can you then assert Genesis is the true word of God if you think Psalm is not?

What else would you expect from scumbag bible thumpers?

Besides, you have to read the whole passage....

Quote: 7 Remember, LORD, what the Edomites did
on the day Jerusalem fell.
“Tear it down,” they cried,
“tear it down to its foundations!”
8 Daughter Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is the one who repays you
according to what you have done to us.
9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks.

So because the Edomites were allegedly glad that Jerusalem fell - understandable as they were commercial rivals - it is the Babylonians who are going to have their infants dashed against the rocks. Except, that didn't happen either and the Persians took Babylon with little violence.

Meanwhile, the god who isn't there sat by cheering.

You really have to be fucked up to claim this stuff is righteous. You have to be more fucked up to claim it is real.

It's contradictory because David prayed for Destruction while someone else in the book of joshoah prayed for piece? Is it impossible for 2 different people to pray for 2 different things?
