God's Most Appalling Act
RE: God's Most Appalling Act
I always thought Abraham resembled a terrorist. He was about to kill his son simply because he believed his god told him to; the same reason terrorists fly into buildings.
Trudging through endless religion one step at a time.

wow, why does everyone blame God, why not the real enemy, (Satan).? God permits evil, he does not will it. something always good comes out of evil. we may not understand it, but for our own good we have evil in this world. And man most of the time is responsible for evil, however out of evil people unite we learn lessons and how to love more.

Sarah

Alright, let's try something else. If this god of yours permits evil, it is at least as evil as that which it permits. I could stand by and watch as some thug rapes and murders a defenseless young girl, even though I might be perfectly capable of preventing it. It may be that the thug cannot control his actions and is compelled to rape and kill; but what does that say about me? Even if I'm not directly to blame, I am still complicit.

If Satan does the evil that your god permits, and something good will always come from it, what makes Satan an enemy? And an enemy of whom, anyway?

Finally, if your god was to appear to you and command you to commit some atrocity - dashing babies' heads against rocks, for example - would you do it? After all, going by what you wrote above, you have to assume that there is some greater good to come.

(If you do reply to this, please try to do it with no shouting, unnecessary emboldening or weird font sizes. My eyes thank you.)

As I said, the lack of evidence is my evidence.

sarah888 Wrote:Faith is belief in the things we cannot see however if I explained some of the proof for GOD you will just deny it.

Please don't confuse your and every other theist's inability to provide any sort of proof with the preconceived notion that I will automatically deny anything presented as evidence of a god.

sarah888 Wrote:You believe there is no God. How did you get to that speculation and or belief.? Im just curious.

You are confusing beleiving there is no god with siimply lacking a belief in god. As far as your god goes, however, I do believe he does not exist and I can get into those reasons if you like.

Yaweh? No.

Not any of the gods I'm familiar with, no. I'd want to put as much distance between them and myself as possible, and I'd want to shelter as many people from them as possible as well.

Try chariots made of iron. They're god-proof.

Thank you

How can a person holding a childish belief expect a mature discourse?

Well, it's a fact it's hot by any sane person's definition of "hot" (ie hot enough to vapourise you).

But when something is credited as a fact, it is not also a belief and/or an assertion as well. A fact stands up on it's own.

Facts come under the umbrella of "knowledge" - therefore I "know" not "believe" that the sun is hot.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

you have to name call to prove your point, which lacks intellect on your part, you may not agree but at least be respectful. Play nice.

Sarah

I'm not name-calling, I'm sympathizing with you. I understand that your own lack of intellect must be a very hard thing to accept, but denying it won't change the facts. And the fact is, you are stupid.

Look, being dumb is not a moral failing or a fault, it just is a fact of life. But the good news is, you don't have to remain that way. You can get smart-er. But the first step is to look at things as they are and not imagine them to be as you want them to be. Once you learn how to do that, your anger and jealousy at atheists would disappear.

when I respond I am respectful . I dont go around spewing "Crap" or name-calling. Thank you

You see, its not name calling if the shoe really does fit. And here, it fits like Cinderella.

Apparently god can't get around iron. Like the titanic for example, made of iron. So god couldn't sink it directly, so he put an ice burg in front of it instead.

I'm going to go buy some iron! It's god-proof! Big Grin
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Interestingly, the Earth's core, where presumably Hell is meant to be, is also made of iron. So God must be powerless against it. How ironic!
