The last time I prayed I was 12. My mom was in an ICU ward following a major heart attack at the age of 42. I prayed, and prayed hard. Not for a miracle cure, but just some sign that she would be okay. I bargained with god, praying that I knew I wasn't a good Christian, and if he would only give me a small sign that she was going to pull through, I'd follow him for life. She didn't even recognize me when I got to go in to visit her. So yeah, it's bunk, and as I said at the beginning, I haven't prayed since.

What I have prayed for never worked. I was merely lucky that after both occasions on which I prayed I got what I prayed for.
To my suprise I have noticed that i have never realy prayed in my life.
I prayed at my granddads funeral - but mainly because everyone was mumbleing the same crap. I guess I just grew up with the mentality that it is better to work for something, than to wish for something. 
I like to think a "prayer" is nothing more than a "magic spell"... equally ineffective to the desired outcome.
