Hitler believed he was doing God's work!!

RE: Hitler believed he was doing God's work!!
As I read through the book I realize that yes, there are many other factors that influenced Hitler and transformed him into the fanatical patriot that he became.Religion and politics were two of the things that bothered him the most throughout the book.He looked down upon spineless politicians that were afraid to make judgement calls that at times if they took responsibility for themselves could have meant the end of their careers.

He does refer to gods of fate etc. but when he refers to the god of christianity he is very clear as is evident in the first qoute I posted here.He refers to him as the creator of all things and speaks of him as being perfect and how the Germans themselves should strive to perfection. He calls imperfection a sin against the creator. You will read all about this in his racist ramblings about an aryan nation etc. Where he talks about eugenics and the purity of the race etc.I am almost done with the book FutureandHope and I am very glad I decided to read it.

I am not patriotic nor religious but both topics I find of great interest. When I read Hitlers assessment on politics I can still see some traces of those thing he criticizes in our politics today. That is why I find it so interesting that even back then they grappled with the same issues that we are currently facing.

He was a theist. What is the point?

The point being that as a theist he clearly demonstrated the horrors that occur when you combine two of the most detrimental systems of belief.Namely: Christianity and Patriotism both of which Hitler was fanatical about. In the name of god there have been more atrocities committed than I care to shake a stick at, and if you look in the bible hard enough you will find some form of justification for those actions. In the name of country there has also been equal or a greater amount of bloodshed over politics and ideals.

Now,Dagda you seem to enjoy butting heads with me everywhere you can find me.I am guessing you either like pushing my buttons or you just have nothing better to do.If you don't like the topic of discussion do as I do and don't bother to make useless comments just move on to another topic that you might find suitable.

I thought the whole point of a debate forum was to debate? You just happen to be the most prolific author on threads which take my fancy. No offence meant.

okay that is cool sorry was just wondering.Either way I have finished reading Mein Kampf and it was pretty interesting. It was eye opening at times because I never thought that I would ever find myself in agreement with some of Hitlers opinions on matters of politics.

Okay I finally found that qoute in Mein Kampf that will put to rest the questions regarding Hitlers religious beliefs.

As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice.

Adolf Hitler

If only it was so simple. We can't say for sure if this quote is genuine. We don't know if he changed stance after the book (something that is extremely likely).

Quotes aren't reliable. You'll find several quotes dated after Mein Kampf where Hitler could very easily be painted as an atheist. It's simply not cut and dry, unfortunately.

The entire debate is futile. It's simply not relevent to either side of the religion argument whether or not Hitler was a Christian, atheist, Buddhist or pagan. It's simply not a valid point to say that any belief held by Hitler is a bad one, simply because he was a bad person.

On the contrary. It is insanity that has led to religion.
Actually it's probably both... insanity=religion= even more insanity=even more religious insanity and so on....

But religion was a by product of faith...not the other way around...and faith was a by-product of an evolutionry need...such as, something like; the need for children to believe and obey what they're parents say...for example. Children had faith in their parents....this faith over the years probably turned into faith in God which = religion....and since faith in parents (possibly, if not some equivalent)=evolutionary logical and that led to belief in God... Faith was most probably a logical by-product....but IT'S by-product - religion - wasn't....

So it probably goes something like this: Faith=logical evolutionary, yet delusional by-product=religion;
which is an illogical delusional by-product=insanity=more faith=more religion=more insanity=more faith=more religion=more insanity and so on and so on and so on and so on.

Thats probably close to what I believe right now...Might have explained it wrong... I dunno... thoughts?

I don't know if I like the use of the word faith outside of a religious context, due to the fact that it's so used and abused by christians. But I think I agree with what you're trying to say.
Atheism as a Religion

I'd bet my ass he was a supernaturalist, though -- theist or not.
