RE: new member
Hey Kittens,

Welcome, sorry I got here so late to say it. I hope you have a good time here, I found it pretty interesting. A lot like what I was expecting, but not totally. Please don't let the meaner ones bring you down, there are people like that everywhere. I am pleased to see your arrival, if only because you are already interesting. I also quite respect the people here when it comes to believing what they will.

I have read a lot of varied theology, but was raised in New York and North Carolina (strange mix), so the bible was always there. I also liked the other books that "didn't make it in the bible". The Thomesian tradition, the gnostic texts that have survived. I will try to think up a good question, and we can share interpretations. I love sharing interpretations of anything, it is a great learning tool.

Thank you for listening.

Take care yourself,
-Pip

Hello pippy, thank you for your kind post. It's nice to meet you. Im looking forward to disucssing whatever concerns or interest come up about the bible. I do not have the answers to everything and I will never claim I do and I dont think anyone ever will. But I belive that if the bible does not make sense to us then its obvious that our understanding is incorrect. so now im gonna try to asnwer as best I can two questions that was asked of me. Again nice to meet you.

First task.

Please prove that the bible is true. And if you can do that I'll be the first to admit that I have been wrong. Cool Shades

Hello all,
Well its me again lol. I have only a few things to say concerning if the bible is real or a fairy tale. It is almost as hard to prove it is real as it is to prove it isn't real.

1. People believed the world was flat. The bible says the world is round (Isa 40:22) or circle of the earth. then comes columbus who discovered the world was round. His discovery agreed with the bible making the bible true in scripture.

2. There has been many efforts to outlaw, burn/destroy the bible. All failed. Scripture reads, Isa 46:10 says my counsel shall stand and Isa 40:08 says the grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of God stands forever. and Prov 19:21 says, many plans are in the man's heart but the counsel of the lord will stand. there are other verses as well saying his counsel will stand. Now the bible must be correct and true since all the attempts to get rid of the bible has failed over and over agian.

3. The bible states in romans 8:7 that the human mind is hostile against God. now is the bible correct? lets see. well, not to offend anyone here but how many atheist exist? since we have atheist all over, this would make the bible correct. Even people that claim to be christians foresake God when angry. I did when I had a miscarriage. and of course I aksed for forgiveness later. But if we were not hostile agaisnt God, then even the believers would never forsake him even when mad even if it is short lived.

4. Archaeological findings confirm exact details of histroical statements that fully support biblical scripture. 17,000 clay tablets dating from 2500 bc (before Christ) contain the oldest known creation accounts outside of the bible. Those clay tablets speak of one being who created the heavens, moon, starsand earth that is also spoke of in genesis in the bible.

I hope what l wrote , will atleast cause benefit of doubt.

If you believe as you have already stated, that Hell is a Christian concept and does not exist, why do you attempt to convert atheists? What is the ultimate point? If there is no punishment for non-belief, why do you "pester" (that really isn't the right word...no offense meant!) us?

I'm just curious why you would try and change someone's life, which they are perfectly happy with, and when there is no benefit at all from it.

Adrain, As I stated earlier I believe that christian teachings among others I feel is why some, not all, but some atheist exist. Who could love or want to worship someone so cruel as to torture someone in a so called hell fire. This hell of torture is not biblical. The bible is misunderstood and I can prove it with explanations that make perfect sense. I simply do not want people thinking God is gonna torture them for all eternity. thats just completley absurd. It is not me that can change anyone's life. but Jesus can and is going to.

the bible says these things.
1. John 6:44 and 65 no man can come to me if ever the father who sends me should not be drawing him.
2. John 15:16 says ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.

God only chooses some for now. But it is his will to call and choose ALL MANKIND in the future. Not all are called at once. And what God wills will be done. Isa 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out of my mouth, it shall not return me a void but it shall accomplish that which I please. Thy will be done in earth as is it is heaven.

we cannot serve God on your own. Phil 2:13 says For it is God which works in both to WILL and TO DO of his good pleasure. Also For by grace you are saved through faith and that faith IS NOT OF YOURSELVES. IT IS A GIFT OF GOD.

seems I cant change you and you cant change yourself. so I did not come here to change you but to tell what the bible really says. But you know God works in strange ways so maybe my being here is part of his plan. To irritate the atheist lol Just kidding. The bible does says, we can do nothing by ourself. In fact without God we would not even have a thought process.

I saw on someone's post earlier that we cannot see nor hear God. Your right we cant but we also cannot see air but we know it exist. We can only see the affects of it. like trees blowing. we cannot see hunger but we know it exist. we cannot see pain but we know it exist. we cannot see bacteria on things with the naked eyes but we know it exist. need micoscope for that. There are many things that we cannot see with the naked eye.

This idea that is put around that people used to think that the Earth was flat is a myth. The Romans knew it was a sphere as did the ancient greeks. And anyway, the Bible says circle not sphere.

The Qu'ran still exists does that mean that it is also true? And what about the Torah? Let's not forget the texts of the Hindu religion. Is this true because they survive?

This is brilliant. The presence of athiests proves the validity of the Bible? Sorry, but this is utter nonsense.

So what? Why is this important?

If this were an examination where the question was to provide evidence for the validity of biblical teaching I'd be giving you 1 out of a possible 100, and that's just because I'm being generous.

You'll have to do immeasurably better than that....

Thank you for your replies. I can honestly say that your responses were expected. I cannot make you see anything except what you want to see. But what one believes and what is real are two different things. The things I listed above are facts not fiction.

RE: new member
But they are meaningless facts, well two of them are facts anyway.

You said that you could prove the bible was true. Why say that if you can't? We obviously have a very different understanding of what the word proof means.

Quote:ut what one believes and what is real are two different things.

You're quite right there. And as we don't believe that statement must apply to you Wink

RE: new member
Any facts at all that prove anything that the bible said makes room for one having the benefit of doubt. As far as what you posted on quran and other writings , I beleive God taught all the same thing due to the verses below

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (II Tim 3:16)

and

all the deciples were told to teach all nations.....matthew 28:19

The major problem I see with scripture is that Humans do not understand scripture the same way. I could say dont cry over spilled milk and there will be some who actually think someone spilled milk and is crying becuase of it. But in reality it means dont worry over unimportant things. Scripture is badly misunderstood by many which in return is why there are so many different beliefs/religions.

RE: new member
kittenshere, don't you accept that WE DON'T BELIEVE IN GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

RE: new member
I don't at the moment either. I say at the moment but - I don't expect to change!! Nevertheless I'm fine if Kitten proceeds regardless of if I'm convertable or not (and no, once again - i don't believe I am! Lmfao, ever) - I can certainly see that some don't like it though!! I obviously can't speak for all.
