So therefore there must be, God a real, the Bible is true and Jesus wants you for a sunbeam? Undecided

And by definition there can't be as 'The Cosmos' is all there is, whether we've discovered it or not!

Nope, as how could Tyson be the proof of GODS existence or not but Tyson has an opinion and I respect that. I also respect the way he doesn't particularly like the approach of some atheists to the discussion about God. But it is consistent with all my posts " no one can prove God doesn't exist" even Tyson.

Thing is you are incapable of proving the existence of your chosen deity. That is only one of 3,800 deities known to mankind and only over 10,000 years.

Evidence would suggest that there is no god and the "holly spirit" comes in a bottle ( I think it's called scotch)

Not quite but what i'm saying is science is fantastic at dealing with The Cosmos and how it works but not so good when it tries to deal with things that are Transendental and that the feelings you get while not necessarily fully transendental it does give you some ideas about the limits of science.
Ahh.... transcendental == feelings.... is that it?
And since we can't pinpoint where these come from, for how, you would like to insert your god here?
Am I getting warm?

Thing is that we CAN pinpoint where these "feelings" come from.... thanks to neuroscience.

Thoughts and feelings have evolved over the eons just like every other aspect of life.

You are trying to place things outside of nature that are very much part of nature so you can shoe horn your god in.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Yeah....heaven forbid that you learn you have been conned all your life, huh?

IF ONLY THINGS WERE SO SIMPLE

If the question is, "How does thought originate?," we have to begin with defining the nature of the mind. From my investigation of brain evolution, I've learn that thought is a product of the mind and that the mind is an environment of cognitive activity within the brain's structure that arises from brain function. Brain function involves a concert of cortical and subcortical neural activity; therefore, thought is a product of cortical and subcortical neural activity.

One of the greatest misperceptions of the brain is its association with cortical function only; i.e., a misperception that the cortex constitutes the entirety of brain function. However, the evolution of brain structure suggests that the cortex merely enhances the efficiency of subcortical structure. This is why extensive damage to the cortex does not endanger life as such damage to subcortical structure would cause.

Back to your original question,"How does a thought originate?," to have a thought is to have a mind and to have a mind--as brain evolution suggests--is to have the capacity to integrate multiple sensory information in way that produces behaviors independent of instinct. With a mind, our animal ancestors gain the capacity to behave proactively rather than reactively; i.e., the capacity to think before reacting.

"Where does the mind reside? It's a question that's occupied the best brains for thousands of years. Now, a patient who is self-aware – despite lacking three regions of the brain thought to be essential for self-awareness – demonstrates that the mind remains as elusive as ever."

And of course even if all the functions usually associated with the mind being located in the brain
