I'm sure we have far more baseball bat murders in the US than Britain but no baseball bat ever flew through a wall and killed someone in another apartment.

Police: Man loses 2 fingers in ceremonial musket misfire

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (AP) — Police say a Connecticut man lost two fingers when the barrel of his ceremonial musket exploded in his hands.
It happened Wednesday night in the driveway of the 39-year-old man's home in Willimantic.
Police say he put too much gunpowder into the weapon, causing the barrel to explode from the wooden stock when it was fired.

Seems almost impossible to me....unless there were copious quantities of alcohol involved.  I have two replica muskets and have fired them hundreds of times.  If you don't follow the powder charge with a lead ball what you get when you pull the trigger is a whooshing sound and a shitload of smoke.

So, it seems to me that what we have here is some drunken bastard pouring smokeless powder down the barrel and setting it off.

Texas man accidentally shoots himself in jaw trying to kill armadillo

Ask Samuel Ebert, who accidentally took a bullet to his jaw Thursday during an armadillo shooting gone awry.
The 52-year-old Texan told authorities he fired his gun three times at the armadillo around 3 a.m. in Marietta, Tex., near Highway 77.
He claimed the bullet ricocheted off the animal’s hard-shelled armor and plunked him in the head.
Sheriff Larry Rowe countered the explanation, saying the bullet more likely bounced off a rock.
“We got tough armadillos out here. But they’re not that tough,” Rowe told the Daily News.

I suspect the Sheriff is a little closer to reality here.

On Sunday morning, a man accidentally shot himself while trying to fetch a cigarette outside a Burger King in Lake Park.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement the man had pulled a handgun from his pocket so he could get the cigarette. The gun discharged into his right leg when he tried to return it,

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say a woman who accidentally fired a gun has succumbed to her injuries.

Rotterdam Police say at 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning they received a call at 1287 MariahVille Rd. reported as a 28-year-old who accidentally discharged a gun. EMT’s tried to save the woman, but could not.

With a statement like that, you seem young and unexperienced in the ways of the world.  There is no shortage of stupidity in the world.  Whenever you are thinking, "no one could be so stupid that...", you should reconsider your ideas.  It is almost certain that you are mistaken.

As for the numbers, the population of the world is very high.  There are billions of stupid people in the world.
