I wouldn't go so far as to say it's useless to try to "control the plague", as you say. I would loop simply suggest trying to actually understand the disease instead of watching the bodies stack up because someone is prescribing the wrong medication.

Educate yourself and read through some FBI statistics sometime. Statistically, men use firearms to kill about 67% of the time. Women only use firearms 39% of the time. Women are 5 times more likely to poison someone than men. Most murders occur within a given demographic. Whites are more likely to kill whites, blacks are more likely to kill blacks, etc. 

If someone really wants to murder people, especially a LOT of people, they will use the best method they can find.

- Jim Jones killed 909 people with Flavor Aid laced with Valium, chloral hydrate, cyanide and Phenergan. 
- People like Timothy Mcveigh with the skill to do it build bombs. 
- A few years ago it was fashionable for jihadists to drive big rigs into crowds.
