The problem is that that's never going to happen here. Switzerland's system is very close to this and it works extremely well.

There is an argument is can it be used to harm a criminal to stop a crime and would an armed public be able to do this more often than the bad consequences of general gun ownership would itself cause?

It wasn't designed to commit crimes, people and their myopic and intentional ignorance. But, as I've had opportunity to mention, it isnt the design but the use that matters, so I ask this...why are we looking to ban assault rifles instead of pistols here in the US?

Because carrying guns is not completely illegal. Like I said earlier, they just have tight restrictions.

Target-shooting, which is actually the MOST common usage of a handgun, in fact, by a vast sweeping majority.

If the use of hand guns is for target practice, why is one needed in the home? Or are they kept in the home to use against criminals?

Oh pardon me, I just have not noticed all the people in Britain strolling about with guns. You know so much more about where I live than I do. These Gun free zones, are they in the Antarctic?
