Delaware 2-year-old shoots himself in the head while home alone with mother

Neighbor Renita Kimp told The News Journal that it she couldn’t understand why the child would have access to a gun.

“Why would parents have a gun in the house with a 2-year-old?” she asked.

Michael Dunn was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder for killing an unarmed black teenager during a dispute about loud rap music.

Dunn shot and killed 17-year-old Jordan Davis in 2012 outside of a Jacksonville convenience store, and claimed the shooting was in self-defense.

Only the cops get off scot-free if they kill someone who has an imaginary gun.

A criminal justice instructor at Technology Center of DuPage in Addison accidentally discharged a handgun during class Friday afternoon, striking a file cabinet and hollow wall, officials said.

The instructor, a retired FBI agent, wasn't authorized to have the gun on school property, said Jim Thorne, the school's director.

"It's not part of the curriculum. It's nothing we knew he had," Thorne said.

Three students were watching the instructor's demonstration about 1:30 p.m. in an office adjacent to a classroom, where other students were preparing for the start of class, Thorne said.

No one was struck by the bullet, which ended up lodged in another classroom, he said.

More than half (56 percent) were terminated by the shooter who either took his or her own life, simply stopped shooting or fled the scene. Another 26 percent ended in the traditional Hollywood-like fashion with the shooter and law enforcement personnel exchanging gunfire and in nearly all of those situations the shooter ended up either wounded or dead. In 13 percent of the shooting situations, the shooter was successfully disarmed and restrained by unarmed civilians, and in 3 percent of the incidents the shooter was confronted by armed civilians, of whom four were on-duty security guards and one person was just your average "good guy" who happened to be carrying a gun.
