Well, that's a lie, I don't love him. I do follow him though and I watch Real Time every saturday morning when it's been uploaded to a torrent website Sam Harris is on tonight's show

Bill Maher speaks a lot of common sense and is entertaining when he bashes loons, but of course he is fallible and has said some ludicrous things in his time. Been owned a couple times, shot down, out-debated, etc, but that's not a bad thing. Just shows he's fallible and can get it wrong. As an entertainer I like what he does and as a debater I just enjoy the conversations for what they are. Bill ain't that bad, Padraic.

ON TOPIC:

If Mitt Romney, Karl Rove and Sarah Palin all think America has never done anything wrong, we must be doing something wrong. Look at them: an empty suit, an empty heart and an empty head. It looks like the news team on Good Morning Hell. And what they've been competing about lately is who would not apologize the most. America is infallible, and apologies are horrible things that must never, ever be given.

Can't argue with that. Bill's post lays waste to some pretty ridiculous thinking and we need somebody to be doing that on a large scale.

It may also mean he's a comic and rather facile social commentator, not a philosopher.But,he's damn sight brighter,[and funnier] than Penn Gillette,who is at times also confused with being a deep thinker.

PS: "Common sense" is an oxymoron,probably because it's usually wrong.
