Read about this earlier - good stuff. Not all of North Carolina is as ignorant as the Amendment One shit would lead you to believe...it's just that all the "enlightened" folk live near college cities (of which there aren't over many) and the ignoramuses far outnumber them.

I think it's strange when people choose a religion to match their politics. My religion is more important to me than my political opinions.

I've always found it strange that the more seriously a person took their religion, the more I felt inclined to be disagree with them.

One time, a friend invited me to a born-again christian worship gathering, and right in the middle of it, one of their members, who I gathered was one of their more senior members, went up to the stage to rant about how the tsunami that hit Japan was the fault of the godless Japanese, and that we should be thankful that it wasn't us who was hit because we were so holy.

Needless to say, I just walked right out after that.
