North Dakota Senate Passes ‘Personhood’ Amendment, Forgets Women Are People

RE: North Dakota Senate Passes ‘Personhood’ Amendment, Forgets Women Are People
I'm just waiting for the fall-out of this law. I can already tell you what's going to happen; you know how the law says you can only do certain things if you're a certain age? For example, you can only drive when you're 16, smoke when you're 18, drink at 21? Or age of consent laws? How much you want to bet people are going to start subtracting 9 months from their original birthday to calculate that? It's going to be interesting to see how these politicians handle this, especially if this goes national and people start asking for social security or medicare 9 months early.

Interesting,Tara. Getting a tax credit a year in advance... That could easily be manipulated...
But first it has to pass in a general election, correct? I'm interested how that will shake out.

After that it has to survive court challenges, including the supreme court. That's the one I think is kinda scary because it could easily be an opening to challenge the Roe v Wade ruling. Sometimes I wonder if the Jesus people are making these absurd anti-abortion laws just to get them brought before the courts in an attempt to overturn that case.

Well, it's been challenged before, and virtually every time it's been tried, it's failed.

If a fetus is a person, and it's killing it's mother, does it get the death penalty or just life in prison?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Not surprisingly, North Dakota has the largest percentage of Christians in the US, also the least amount of tourism. North Dakota sucks.

Can we just abort the whole state? Nobody should think a collection of cells that can't think, can't feel, can't live on it's own is a person. How can you possibly force a woman to carry a rapists baby and then have the fucking gall to claim have the morally superior position? It's so morally wrong that I would call it evil.

You are exactly right. That is there intent. They think now is the only time that they MIGHT have a chance to repeal Roe v Wade. I think at best they have 4 votes anyway and more likely only 3. Although there are so many things I disagree with the Obama administration on, I guess the one sigh of relief is that the supreme court never be tipped to overturn Roe v Wade.

My sister is in school to be an RN. She says the pain receptor synapses in an embryo develop at appx week 8. So, I'm pro contraception before that time and after which time we'd be causing pain to another living thing, which I can't see as being humanistic.

but that's just me. I mean, if you get raped? Go get that cancelled. Anyone who says she can't is a turdnugget. I've been raped, it's not a walk in the park and considering that the mother's emotional well being is directly involved in how the child will be physcially and mentally for the rest of it's life: it's almost cruel to make the process occur. Not to mention, if I'd become pregnant I definitely would not have had the wherewithall to undergo an entire pregnancy, or endure even more pain than I already had. It's even worse to think that if that pregnancy threatened my life, they wouldn't save me in the hospital in favor of this baby that I didn't fucking ask for.

FUCK North Dakota
