RE: Sports
I follow various combat sports and the rock climbing world. I wouldn't mind a sports forum on here, considering there is one for gaming.

Okay, so the questions are do you support the idea of a sports forum, and can it be created here?

"In short, Meyer has shown that his first disastrous book was not a fluke: he is capable of going into any field in which he has no training or research experience and botching it just as badly as he did molecular biology. As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! If such a forum gets enough support it can be easily created.

Hockey and baseball.... although I generally think that sports is vastly overrated in society in general.

College football. But then the SEC is is 9 for 15 including the last 7 in a row, Alabama the state has 4 in a row and Alabama the school is 3 for the last 4 in BCS championship games.

Too bad colleges are supposed to educate students instead of play football.

One cannot help but wonder what even the ones who graduate are majoring in? Phys Ed? Basket-weaving?

Penn State was stripped of some 20 football "scholarships" in the aftermath of the Paterno fiasco. That was 20 out of 80. I wonder how many scholarships were given out in the Physics Department?

I agree, but still enjoy the football. I've maintained for years that programs should drop the charade and allow athletes to opt out of degree requirements by transferring their academic scholarship to someone who wants to learn.

Another option would be for the NBA and NFL to pay for their own development leagues much like MLB and NHL.

Not sure if you've seen this. Lengthy, but revealing. "The Shame of College Sports".
