Not only all of that but the Judean Yahweh cult was most likely created for them as a backstory for the dictatorial tyranny of Maccabe rule.

How does one make predictions using an old text? Some kind of magic?

Or do you mean you picked something to look for, then went and "found" it???

It's easy Cat (like it always is). If narrative x was based on fact y, then we would expect to find evidence z. Whether or not Nony is correct has no bearing on the relative ease (and utter lack of magic involved in the use)of this method.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That seems about as equivalent as reading a map and "predicting" that you'll make it to Florida... Undecided

-If the map is accurate - and I follow this path- then I should make it to Florida.

Something tells me that you didn't think that one through....as it's directly equivalent and wholly representative of the same method.

It's not a prediction if it's about past events.

Well then, all he has to do now is "discover" the "ancient gospel of Giwer" which predicted stuff like the Cold War and Coke Zero and Derek Jeter's broken ankle and was written two thousand years ago. *snicker*
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

If the map is 50 years old, it is a predication based upon the assumption of the accuracy of the map - or the ability of the mapmakers. It's negation or confirmation would tell us something about one or the other. To be honest, the map could be 50 milliseconds old, the prediction of a future event is where I will end up if a and b

This really isn't that confusing. The date that the map was made has very little bearing on whatever future prediction I might make to test the map. You can predict the discovery of evidence of past events in precisely the same manner.

If x happened as y said then we would expect to find supporting evidence z (much stronger if we don't already have it, btw)- as has already been explained.
