There is a lot I don't like about the RCC. But 99% of the "people" are good. And do an awful lot of good for others..no matter their affiliation.

Sorry about the language, but I'm also human...and I can be frogiven...at least by my God! And I guess I'm one of the few that some kind of standard is required of.

I don't know what pain I am supposed to be sympathizing with. I agree that most people are "good". but here is what I see as the heart of the problem(of cover-ups of something awful and it not being handled properly)

You have an organization. This organization has millions of members and claims to have the right path(not the thread to discuss that). It is appealing to children because of many reason. Not everyone but a few are taken advantage off. and this is wrong (we both agree). It is also wrong that instead of losing their job, and facing criminal charges it is swept under the rug. It is wrong to hide it. I don't think you will disagree with that. I don't understand what your disagreeing with or what you are arguing about. I'm sorry if you feel like we were going against Catholicism(I don't think that was the point of the thread).

What I find more alarming than simply the number of priests who molest children, is how the Church moves these priests around and continues to grant them access to children, even after they are known pedophiles. That's what is alarming, the coverup and protection of priests, not kids... And it goes straight up to your former Pope, Ratzinger...

Who but an total ass would be onboard with that crap?! And what's the remedy, w/o sarcasm?

That has to be correct. No matter what divine forgiveness might suggest, it would be irresponsible to let someone you know has a severe problem have easy access to reoffend. That would be a violation of them.

The recidivism rate for pedophiles can be described thusly:
Quote: Like other sexual orientations, pedophilia is unlikely to change. The goal of treatment, therefore, is to prevent someone from acting on pedophile urges — either by decreasing sexual arousal around children or increasing the ability to manage that arousal. But neither is as effective for reducing harm as preventing access to children, or providing close supervision.

Simply moving a known pedophile priest around, while not taking care to prevent them from having contact with children is criminal.

Yeah, you can forgive the fox without giving him the keys to the hen-house.

Yeah - Drippy but according to you clowns it's the same fucking god!!!!

Quote:Kids can be indoctrinated by homosexuals and buttfucked in our secular school. That's fine! As long as they are brainwashed first.

You atheists are a real moral bunch. While society as a whole crumbles before your eyes...you try to take down the only inkling left in the world relating to any kind of values!

Except when children are molested in secular schools the schoold districts don't transfer the offenders to new parishes so THEY CAN KEEP FUCKING KIDS. Which is what your fucking last pope did.

If the miserable scumbags who run the church are what you think is moral than you are way too far gone for rational discussion.

The problem is not new, you know.

Quote:The historian and master-ironist Edward Gibbon had a lot of fun with the papacy. Of one 10th-century pope he wrote: “We read with some surprise that his rapes of virgins and widows had deterred female pilgrims from visiting the shrine of St Peter, lest, in the devout act, they should be violated by his successor.” And on the trial and deposition of John XXIII in 1416: “The most scandalous charges were suppressed; the Vicar of Christ was only accused of piracy, murder, rape, sodomy and incest.”

Quote:we are told of Paul II (1464-71): “He seems to have had two weaknesses, for good-looking young men and for melons; the stroke that killed him was said to have been brought on by a surfeit of both.”

Real fucking heroes you worship. Time to take off the blinders and learn about what these bastards have been doing.

In what way, hypothetically speaking, would this be worse than it is now, where kids are frequently indoctrinated by homosexuals and fucked in the Catholic church?

Quote:You atheists are a real moral bunch. While society as a whole crumbles before your eyes...you try to take down the only inkling left in the world relating to any kind of values!

I don't see the crumbling of society. All I see is the crumbling of religious influence in society. All to the good.

Quote:The Catholic church has had its problems. But it's in the open now, and something is being done about it. The church is about its people.

It has long been about its people, protecting them from prosecution, shuffling them to new parishes full of fresh, unassuming victims. And don't kid yourself; it's still going on and will still keep going on. Not just in America, but all over the world. Child rape has become a semi-official Catholic tradition.

Quote:Its like saying that people run this country, or any country for that matter!

How ridiculous, right?! Yet, you try to put the "people" on trial for the sins of a few monsters.

Your "people", when not committing the crimes directly, are aiding and abetting those who do.

Quote:Why don't you fess-up and tell it like it is? That ANY REASON would be good for you to shutdown religion. Because we, and our God is all that's left of any conscience you once had.

Any reason would indeed be good. Religion is a cancer and the Catholic Church has been a particularly malignant tumor throughout its existence. Whatever little good the church has done in no way makes up for two millennia of bloodshed and repression and abuse directly attributed to it.

Quote:There is a helluva lot more good coming from Christians and Catholics specifically then there is bad!

Not true. Your Christian message carries with it a grave and psychotic threat, and your Catholic message in particular has helped wipe out millions of people over the centuries.

Quote:You take all that's good and diminish it to nothing! There is the real hate, lie and crime! And you know it! No matter what lies you tell yourself
in your heart of hearts ...you know it to be TRUE!

Oh, you guys feed the homeless once in awhile. Good for you. All manner of people do it, and some of us aren't so cynical that we do it because hungry people will be more likely to be persuaded to join our church if it feeds them.

Quote:But its not about GOOD here. You are a hateful bunch, and I pray that you are converted and live! Not because I like any of you. It's because, whether you like it or not, there is some part of God in you. And it will be revealed to you one day.

It was revealed to me about an hour ago, when I took a shit. Fuck your psychotic God, and double fuck the child rapist trade house you go to every Sunday. Oh, and you are cordially invited to kiss my ass as well.
