I imagine it would be hard not to be if you were actively coerced into professing to believe what you come to think is nonsense. I count myself lucky that though my father was a total religious nut, he had no ability to communicate or form a relationship. I think that prevented him from effectively passing the contagion.

My mother would say she believed but it wasn't anything she obsessed about. When my father was away overseas in the navy, she could never be arsed to drag all or any of the seven of us to church. She didn't talk about heaven or hell and I don't think she thought about it. I think she thought of god/Jesus as a stern, distant father figure who wasn't a force in her day to day existence and she had more urgent matters to attend to. Lucky me.

Those who were more actively and effectively deceived and coerced should give themselves room to vent and get over it. Mad? Who wouldn't be? Those of us who got off more lightly can afford to let bygones be bygones and speak with theists without the anger. Anyone who shows up here on a mission from God can pretty much count on hearing from both camps. Don't like it? See yah.

I wasn't so much coerced as I was taught to believe at a age where i was too young to reject from such a authority figure in my life (My grandparents who i lived with when I was young). Unfortunately they taught me how to think too.
