Why is God treated like a retarded and selfish child?

I do see 'taking your cross' as metaphorical, but the verse in question isn't metaphorical by any means. What if you choose not to tithe because you have to pay your daughters medical bill or miss church because your mom is in the hospital or cancel a community service project to bail your brother out of jail. What if youre in a position to choose between denying god and saving the life of a child? It has happened. What of you abandon your family cause they're not of the same belief system as you but you're a hypocrite within the church? I don't think it's hyperbole. There's no need for Jesus to speak with exaggeration in this example.

Jesus addresses items similar to those you mention, and in the way that you would prefer, so it seems reasonable to take the hate reference as hyperbole.

Matt 5 would be literal and Matt 15 says something different in the translation I use;

It's the same idea with this translation - Jesus is saying to put father and mother ahead of the church. So, with these two, and the general "love your neighbor," and the agreed figurative verse following the hate verse, you still don't think it possible that it's hyperbole?

I.e. the Pharisees say it's OK to give to god something you would otherwise have given to your parents, and Jesus says they're wrong.

Jesus says to honor them but you have to hate them to be a disciple. He doesn't put them above the church. I'm not sure why I'm having this argument cause I'm sure this god does not exist but if he did and was the god that the Bible depicts him to be, sarcasm would be too immature of a means to communicate. Further, in original manuscripts, in this passage, miseo is the word used which means basically to wish death for. There's no hyperbole there

Why is that? You're just repeating a bare assertion while giving no additional support. And note that sarcasm is one of the later communication tools to develop in children - it's not immature.
