yes, clearly I don't know the particulars of the entire theory (theoretical quantum mechanics or something), as I am not a scientist by any stretch of the imagination. Just laying out a theory I once heard.

This was a popular view after we observed the expansion of the universe, but kind of fell flat when we realized it was accelerating.

Scientism in action. There's no reason to believe that science can explain why there is existence, rather than none. Yes, they may figure out how a Big Bang works and make a mini one in a lab or something. But that doesn't answer the philosophical question of why such a potential exists.

The correct statement is: "Science doesn't know."

Your assertion about Sky Daddy holds true, though. Even an impossibility of knowing the truth (if there eventually proves to be one) doesn't add credence to whatever mythology someone wants to drag onto the table.
