Jacob Wrestles With God
#11
RE: Jacob Wrestles With God
Quote:That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

There is no reason given for this, he drops off his wives off then straight into the strange man wrestle without any form of explanation.
What a poorly constructed story.

The God/Jacob match is in desperate need of some Jim Ross commentary.

Actually it sounds quite funny - A strange random fight with a stranger.

But do you not notice every encounter with God is on a very Local Scale e.g. One person and when multiple people are involved suddenly its those close to the person making the story up.

Take Abraham as an example God was 'With' him and yet when people were in Abrahams presence God was never there.

So basically God went oh fuck Jacob will beat me i'll just break his hip!

The funny part about that verse it that it seems to be saying "when the man saw he could not overpower Jacob, he decided to... overpower Jacob." If it sounds nonsensical, that's because it is.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You have things in the wrong order.
Evil is the opposite of God, it wasn't created, it had always been, it just wasn't active.
When Lucifer allowed evil to become active sin was born.
Sin made Satan, he was not created.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

GC For fuck sake do you really believe that evil wasent created. So what you are actually saying is that God and Evil Co-Exist so therefore God has no control over evil as they cannot be destroyed.

Lucifer was not evil God allowed evil to occur when Adam and Evil ate the apple he could have said - Awwh well. Many people have went against God worse than eating a damned apple - Have you seen the 10 Commandments?

God does not inflict as harsh a punishment on us who ignore the 10 commandments.

GOD IS THE ALPHA AND OMEGA (According to you) BEGINNING AND END.
and
EVIL IS BEFORE ALPHA AND AFTER OMEGA ETERNAL - NOT CREATED NEVER MADE - GOD HAS NO CONTROL AS IT PREDATES HIS ENERGY.
