Two consenting adults, including relatives?

Humans and other animals, though, have a natural aversion to mating with close relatives they were raised around.

Plus there's the ick factor.

Kinda sounds like people think that incest is ok, but only if controlled by eugenics. The "moral decay" guys are gonna love this.

I don't think genetic monitoring is necessary. As someone above stated, we don't deny couples with genetic defects from reproducing. It would be arbitrary to restrict certain legally-consenting sexual partners from taking that risk but not others.

Umm... no on both counts.

I do not accept eugenics as an acceptable criteria for monitoring incest. Not if we don't apply the same criteria with other non-related couples.

I also don't regard it as "ok". I find it disgusting and abhorrent - and in a lot of cases - immoral.

But what I acknowledge is that I do not have the right to impose my moral code on anyone else.

There seems to me to be a logical error in this whole argument.

The premise seems to be that if X is made illegal, then Y should too. And if you don't want Y then you should not want X.

The flaw here is that X has very little to do with Y. We might try to separate them with rules (like consent) but that's only ever going to be a part of the differences.

You know what Gay marriage is exactly the same as? GAY MARRIAGE!! To pass gay marriage is not to accept a rule which will allow people to marry their vacuum cleaners in a few years, nor is it the same as allowing mixed race marriage. It's a debate all by itself.

Comparing it to any other kind of marriage allowance is simply irrelevant. Each must be considered on individual merit.

Thanks for making the case that same sex "marriage" is not exactly marriage.

Me, I don't really have a problem with incest. There might be some concerns for genetic illness being spread, but if they aren't having kids anyway, what's the harm? I might want to find out a little more about the pschological impact that has on people, especially growing up, but even that's an unknown.

That being said, nature itself seems to try to prevent inbreeding. Specifically, the hormones impact our body odor and phermone production. One of the things the brain seems to do is make us sexually attracted to people with phermones with genetic code different from ours. If the genes are too similar to our own, we aren't as attracted to them.

Why don't you just sit down and let the adults converse? You're only embarrassing yourself. More than usual.

You are, by far, the most childish and petty member we have here.
