The second is somewhat more esoteric. Crippling the feet in that way means the feet are inherently unstable and painful to walk on. The muscle tensions required to walk like that involve massive tensions through all the extrinsic stabilisers right up to the pelvic floor. In short, a lady with bound feet will have a very tight vagina. Just for fun, try flexing your big toe so you walk on the tip of your toe and your heels, and notice what the muscles around your butt and pelvis do. Now imagine what those muscles would be like if you walked like that ALL the time. Right? Right. Finally, a woman with crippled feet is not able to do any kind of manual labour. As such it was an indication that one did not expect to have to work, a mark of social prestige.
I do believe that it was also because it made it harder for the woman to run away, so that she would be more submissive. How any man could find foot binding sexy is beyond me.

So if I had just bound my feet, I wouldn't have to work and a man would take care of me? Wish I would have known about that!
Wait till you see those pictures, you just might be glad your feet weren't bound.

It's fucking painful to bind your feet. And you do it when you're like 3 or so, or when your feet are 3 inches, the smaller they are the more prestigious, it forcefully stops your feet from growing so you can imagine how painful that is. Feet get rotten of course. I saw a doc on it but that was ages ago when I was a kid, don't remember much.

Marx, I don't think women took off their socks if they had bound feet. I mean way back when. Might be mistaken.

It's so crazy that was the status symbol. I'm sure we will look back on some of ours and think they're weird and awful.

One of the less pleasant examples of men dehumanising women.
"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

Well yea. I haven't heard about what Jacob's said about vagina and stuff, XD, but I've heard that it's also because the way women with normal sized feet walk like men. I don't know it's all very odd, but prestige has a big thing to do with it, like what Jacob's said, having small feet is a little like, "look at me, I'm so rich I don't need normal feet because I don't have to work."

Do we have any fashion now that even comes close to footbinding?

It is so hideous, Chinese men must have had really fucked up perceptions of beauty back then.

I suppose we still do the same thing today, just not to the same extreme. We have titjobs & assjobs now where they put water balloons in to make them look bigger. Sorry if we got a bit off topic, back to shoes.

What do you all think of sneakers? I find them cute.
