This faith was short lived. I think I believe in God and am confused about religion.

That's how I currently feel. I hope the theists on the forum do pray for me to be guided.

which ones ? the ones that believe in the right god ? Big Grin

I'm sorry you have departed from reality. And reason.

Take the whole thing or just leave it , If you believe in Quran, then stop cherry picking.

Just ask yourself, how many times did God say in the Quran that he will send the non-believers to hell forever ????

I am aware of the verses in Quran. I've read the Quran over 40 times in my life.

I stand by what I said. The Quran promises non-believers paradise as well in other verses. So before I give you my answer, why don't I ask you, what do you think is a possible reconciliation of these verses?

There is no sane, rational reconciliation of those verses.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Guided by what? How will you know you're being guided? How do you know it's not indigestion?

Instead of sitting on your duff hoping some imaginary force will take hold of your brain to spin it in the right direction, go read a book called "God is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens. He doesn't write in metaphors and veiled meanings like Allah; he's straightforward and will feed you reality with a silver spoon.

So, since we're on an atheist forum, I gotta ask again: why would you possibly believe that this god exists?
The fact that it just happens to be the one of your childhood indoctrination is just a bonus: the by far most likely reason why you believe in that one is because of where or in which cultural circle you or your parents were born - what a coincidence that you reasoned yourself back to that one. I'm sure it's a relief.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

One reason is when I see humans, I see a manifestation of glory that to me seems to be eternal. It's eternal in the sense it is borrowed from an eternal light. It's not that it's beauty and greatness stems from originally nothing. It's rather eternal and must be eternal. When I think of goodness and love, this is what I see. What I see eternalness in, I see as names of God that are linked between us and God. The image of God or the face of God is a living link to me that manifests eternal and perpetual life.
