So is rape reeeally wrong?

RE: So is rape reeeally wrong?
What I don't understand is why creationists seem to be forced to conclude that if god is the source of all morality, there must be no way to rationalize what is right and what is wrong. It's as if they have this fear of believing that god gave them a functioning brain that he wants them to use.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

They sure do like talking about rape! I wonder why they focused on rape?

Rape is alright base on evolution. Women's body shut down during rape. Whats next? Can you please rape me?

I just do not understand how they come with these WAGs!

He's really talking about survival of the fittest, in that special, misrepresentative way that christians do, which doesn't take into account that "fitness," for humans, is about our ability to maintain a social species and not just outright strength. Rape, under the actual definition of fitness for humans, is demonstrably bad for us at the scale of populations, to say nothing of the individual harm.

While I am not in favor of rape - we are probably the only animals on the planet where procreation is based on clear consent

You couldn't be further from the truth. I can think of hundreds of animals, off the top of my head, which have mating or courtship rituals which establish consent.

You are allowed to rape someone if you pay the father 50 silver afterwards, or you kill all her friends and family first. Otherwise it's wrong. This is pretty clear in the scriptures, so you don't have an excuse for such a silly question.

Does the curious fact ever occur inside the muddled religious head that what God seems to love and hate evolves with what mankind finds socially acceptable. Even in their own holy texts God demonstrates the same sluggish pace towards moral improvement that mankind has exhibited. Ironic, huh.

Not only that, but in the mammalian world, most of the rituals revolve around the males fighting or showing off to be 'allowed' to mate with the female. The entire scenario puts the female at the top of the whole game. Wink

Honestly sometimes I wonder why women haven't been raised higher than men. As far as sex goes, they seem to last longer than men for the purpose of being able to have multiple male partners. They are the life givers of the species. Yet for some reason men have held them down, instead of holding them up, and polygamy was much more common than polyandry. Why did we get it so backwards?

Exactly.
From everything I recall, women start sexually developing earlier, take longer to reach their peak, hold their peak longer, and then decline slower, than men in general.

Us males, our stages are more like.... toys, dirt, sports, screw everything in sight for a decade, sports, sit on couch for rest of life.
:p
I know, I know, that's kinda extreme, but.... you get the point.
