If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

For my part, I think it was a good place to start. I am not sure where your opponent is going to take this though. To alpha male's point, the wording of the debate question is not your fault as I am to surmise that your opponent agreed to the terms. I am surprised he did not want to narrow the focus of the discussion. I can only surmise he is unfamiliar with debating or at least the topic at hand. It could also be he really does not believe evolution on any scale occurs, which is just foolish. There are some interesting discussions to be had within the general theoretical framework including punctuated equilibrium vs gradualism, change resistance, etc. Of course the evidence for the general theory is overwhelming.

Well, I know I'd be pissed if I had to write all that for a debate and then realize my debate opponent was never going to reply.

Well, His Travesty has responded and, as expected, it's all bullshit.

So what we can conclude from His_Majestys post is that he doesn't understand the format of the debate or the theory of evolution. Neither does he understand that assertions need to be backed up by evidence. I don't know what I expected.....

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

I hope you're going to substantiate that with hard fact and reasoned points rather than just sniping!
