Here in Ohio, a huge majority of people I talk to don't care that he's black, they just don't like that he's "a stupid nigger". Then, they back peddle when I call them out on blatant racism, trying their hardest to come up with an actual talking point. I realize other states exist, but this is what I hear most in mine. This represents my experience the truest.

I'll relate a true story. Back in 2008 I went to drop off my ballot. I happened to run into an acquaintance doing the same thing. I told him that Obama was going to win. He replied, "well at least my conscious will be clear that I didn't vote for that nigger". Fast forward to 2012 and this acquaintance of mine is the most die-hard Hermain Cain supporter I ever met.

My acquaintance is clearly racist. His racism isn't what caused him to dislike Obama nor did it dampen his support for Herman Cain. You see, presidential elections are no longer about the person anymore. The person running is incidental....its all about ideology now. Ideology has no color.

This is a good point. A Bush running would certainly motivate the liberal locksteppers and that could make the difference. It is certainly not an automatic win for the dems as you suggest.
You're friend is a racist just like you, Herman Cain was nothing more than an uncle Tom token

Proof the electorate has a short attention span. Bush left office extremely unpopular. So unpopular that republican candidates in the next election tried to avoid even mentioning him, while masturbating over Reagan's fresh corpse. I doubt that he's really an electable candidate though. Too many people remember. How many Bush's and Clintons do we need in office anyway?

I love how people just say stuff without actually knowing. It's so great. This didn't sound right to me so I did a 2 minute check on wikipedia. Harry Truman had the lowest approval rating ever at 22% (February 9, 1952) and the lowest average approval rating also at 45%. It's not that hard to actually know what you are talking about.

The scary part is that Florida has so many electoral votes and presumably Jeb would get those.

Bush 22% approval lowest in history, second place Truman @ 32%

Bytheway when Congress elected their Republican majority, thanks to Jerrymandering, voter suppression, and forcing blacks too take felony convinctions in lieu of of jail time, they "successfully" changed their 10% approval rating too a measly 11% after the election

maybe if you Republicans werent so busy bowing too the whim/ sucking the assholes of the rich you might get some higher approval ratings

I'm not a tea partier, just somebody who understands how statistics work.

That is the lowest rate for an outgoing president, as in during the specific time when they leave office. Not the lowest of all time, which can happen any time during their presidency. The article that you linked doesn't even support what you are claiming. Truman was the lowest and had the lowest average to boot.

I just don't know what to write.

I know many are saying he's got a lot to overcome to gain the GOP's nomination but that we are even seriously debating or considering the prospect of a Bush III presidency after the unmitigated disaster that this nation suffered under Bush II, that the "Bush" name isn't completely toxic now, that the prospect of "Jeb Bush for president" isn't the punchline to some joke...

...well, I'm just speechless. I'm totally at a loss for what to write about what it says about my country that the prospect is even considered.

Gah!

Americans love royalty.
