That is akin to stating that Harry Potter must have existed for the same reason.

The Roman Empire existed. Harry Potter did not.

I suggest you read the link I cited though.

The existence of the Roman Empire does not concede that Jesus must have existed. That is faulty logic.

This is not what I said. You said it was akin to Harry Potter; comparing his ''effect'' to Jesus, a man who quite clearly threatened the Roman province in Israel.

I also did not say that's why I think Jesus existed. That was one of the many reasons cited in the link.

Again, I'd suggest taking a look at some of the threads that are totally dedicated to this topic, there's a ton of ground that has been covered in those.

Agreed.

Back on topic then, I would like to see either the formation of Christianity or the earliest set of spiritual beliefs.

Then my statement That is akin to stating that Harry Potter must have existed for the same reason went completely over your head.

The only source for Jesus is the bible. The bible is not evidence for Jesus' existence because its historical accuracy cannot be properly verified. Therefore, using the bible to both show Jesus existed and that the supposed effect his actions had on the community at the time is veritably akin to stating that Harry Potter must have existed due to the effect his actions had at Hogwarts.

It is documented outside The Bible that he effected the Roman province of Israel; both politically and socially. Again; you can bump the threads which have tackled this, debating whether he existed is not the purpose of this thread as it'll derail the actual intent behind it. I've cited a link which you can read yourself, but that link summarized my thoughts. This will have to be the last response I make on this mini-derailment.

The real question is if any theist would dare go back to look at the beginnings of their own religion.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
